A Rainy South Carolina Wedding
First Touches, Petrichor, and Blue Jasmine
Morgan and Hayden’s wedding on May 3rd, 2025, was one of the most cinematic, joy-filled days I’ve ever captured. Held at Meadowview Events in Rock Hill, South Carolina, their wedding was filled with beauty, laughter, emotion—and yes, a whole lot of rain.
When I arrived at the venue with my second photographer, we were welcomed by rolling hills, towering pines, and the absolute charm of Highland cows grazing in the distance. The venue felt like something out of a storybook—serene, pastoral, and picture-perfect despite the dark skies.
Morgan and Hayden are one of the sweetest, most fun-loving couples I’ve had the pleasure of working with. I first met them through my website when they inquired via my contact form, and after their romantic engagement session in Charleston's historic Hampton Park, I knew their wedding day would be one to remember. Fun fact: during their engagement shoot, they loved the idea of a rainy, moody aesthetic so much that we even faked rain with a spray bottle and umbrella for effect. Looking back, I think we may have jinxed the weather on their actual wedding day!
The Ceremony
The day began with Morgan’s details: her perfume (Dolce & Gabbana’s Blue Jasmine) filled the air with soft notes of Sicilian fig, perfectly capturing the dewy, poetic energy of the morning. I also photographed the beautiful luxury watch she gifted Hayden, along with the natural elements of the venue itself, from wild greenery to the rustic charm of the bridal and groom suites.
Instead of a first look, Morgan and Hayden chose to share a first touch, which gave them a moment of connection without spoiling the aisle reveal. And that reveal? One for the books. Hayden gasped and burst into tears when he saw Morgan for the first time—one of the sweetest groom reactions I’ve ever had the honor of photographing.
After the stormy yet poetic outdoor ceremony, we all transitioned into a candlelit reception glowing with warmth. The entire space felt cozy, romantic, and celebratory. Morgan’s dress, which had a slightly bohemian flow, twirled effortlessly across the dance floor during their first dance, setting the tone for an unforgettable night of laughter, love, and lots of dancing.
Morgan and Hayden know how to party, and their reception was such a joyful, high-energy celebration. From emotional toasts to a lively cake tasting and a dance floor that never emptied, it was the kind of night that made everyone believe in love just a little bit more.
As I edited their images, I could feel their spirit—resilient, romantic, and radiating joy. Rain or shine, these two were always going to have a beautiful day. A wet knot, as the saying goes, is harder to untie—and I believe Morgan and Hayden’s love is the kind that’s built to last.

Rain threatened the ceremony all morning, and there was serious consideration about moving everything indoors. But Morgan was determined to say her vows outside—and she did. Just five minutes into the ceremony, the skies opened up in a dramatic downpour. Guests, photographers (and cameras!), and the couple were soaked. And yet, it was completely magical. The images from that moment are some of my favorites I’ve ever taken. They’re moody, emotional, and soaked in love—both literally and figuratively.
